The City of Livermore celebrates the accomplishments of its departments, divisions, and individual staff. Below are some recent national, state, and regional awards given to the City of Livermore:
2019 Governor's Historic Preservation Award
The Livermore Railroad Depot Relocation and Rehabilitation project earned the 2019 Governor's Historic Preservation Award, the only official preservation award presented by the State. The Depot project is recognized as a significant achievement in preserving the heritage of California.
2019 Best Small Cities in California
For the second year in a row, Livermore was ranked the 9th Best Small City in California by WalletHub.com, a personal finance website. A total of 105 California cities ranked among the top 50th percentile of small cities (population sizes between 25,000 and 100,000) in the U.S. Cities were rated on five key dimensions: Affordability, Economic Health, Education and Health, Quality of Life, and Safety.
2019 Award of Merit for Downtown Community Engagement
The Northern California Section of the American Planning Association selected the Downtown Livermore Facilitation Project for an Award of Merit in the category of Public Outreach. Placeworks, the City’s consultant for the Downtown Public Engagement Program, and City staff collaborated on the nomination. The City received the award at the Northern Section Awards Gala, which took place on June 7, 2019.
2019 Best Places to Raise a Family on the West Coast
Livermore was ranked the 7th Best City to Raise a Family on the West Coast by SmartAsset.com, a financial technology company that provides personal finance advice on the web.
2018 Best Small Cities in California
Livermore was ranked the 9th Best Small City in California by WalletHub.com, a personal finance website. 2018 National Association of Town Watch Recognition
The Livermore Police Department was recognized for its participation and activities in the 2018 National Night Out events. The City was ranked 23rd nationwide for cities of populations between 50,000 and 100,000.
2018 Tree City USA Designation
The Arbor Day Foundation recognized the City of Livermore as a Tree City community for its commitment to urban forestry for the 25th consecutive year.
2018 Blue Seal of Excellence Recognition
Fleet Services in the City's Public Works Department earned Blue Seal of Excellence Recognition from the National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) for employing at least 75% ASE certified professionals.
2018 Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting and Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting
The City's Finance Division received these awards, which are the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting.
2018 National Procurement Institute's Achievement of Excellence in Procurement
For the fourteenth time, the City's Purchasing section of the Finance Division earned this award for its innovation, professionalism, productivity, leadership, and e-procurement.
2017 California Water Environment Association
Earned 2nd Place in the State of California 250-500 miles category for "The Best Collection System of the Year"

2015 Voice of the People Award
The National Research Center in Boulder, CO awarded the City of Livermore with the 2015 Voice of the People Award for Transformation in Foundations of Livability. This award recognizes communities that have seen a significant increase in favorable ratings in resident responses over repeated years via the National Citizen Survey™. Livermore's 2014 survey results were extraordinarily positive. According to NRC staff, Livermore's increase in thirty survey areas is considered exceptional and very rare. 2015 FEMA Award
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has approved the City of Livermore to receive a Community Rating System of 9. This rating allows holders of flood insurance policies issued by the National Flood Insurance Program in Livermore to receive a 5 percent discount on their food insurance. FEMA presented the certificate to the City at the June 8, 2015 Livermore City Council meeting.
2015 Lighthouse Award for Excellence
The Business License section of the Finance Division received this award from the California Municipal Revenue and Tax Association in the Technology Enhancement category for its bank and electronic lockbox initiative.
2014 Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting (CAFR) Award
The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada has awarded the City of Livermore Finance Division the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting (CAFR) for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2014. The CAFR is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting.
2014 Distinguished Budget Presentation Award
The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada awarded the City of Livermore Finance Division with this award that signifies that Livermore's budget plan meets the "highest principles of governmental budgeting."
2014 Mothers Against Drunk Drivers (M.A.D.D.) Recognition
The Livermore Police Department received recognition for its impaired driving enforcement efforts.
2014 Partners in Education Award
The Livermore Public Library received this award from the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District for programs and efforts that "exemplify the District's core values, significantly impact student achievement, and positively influence the school and district climate and culture."
2014 California Association of Local Economic Development Award
The Economic Development Division of the Community and Economic Development Department received an Award of Merit in the Promotion category for the marketing campaign, Livermore Getaway Sweepstakes, that aired on NBC-TV.
